Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high; it is there that Education Prevails.

Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high; it is there that education prevails.

When the results were announced, I was in a state of ecstasy! BNM Institute of Technology emerged in the media, topped the ranking list, ranked 24th amongst the top 50 Institutions in India as graded by IIRF, awarded QS ranking for E-learning Excellence in Academic Digitisation, stood foremost in the doners list ... it's popularity growing manifold! I could see the education and the educationists touching the zenith. It is truly said that. "Success begets success!" It is the outcome of the fearless and dignified minds at work.

I paused to look back at the journey in an Institute that has been lucidly progressing towards the pinnacle. It has indeed been an engaging and enjoyable journey.

The significance of report cards, results or an outcome is palpable. Report cards have always played an important role in our lives. They remind us that we are capable of soaring higher. Report cards are much awaited with the same anxiety at every level: a child awaits a report card after exams; an employee awaits feedback after the teaching and assessing marathon; similarly, an Institution awaits a ranking list after each year of hard work. It mirrors our assiduous attitude and gives us solace. It is not a lifeless paper. A report card is a powerful feedback that glares and tells us - Stop not till your goal is achieved!

BNMIT Believes: Education Guided With Value Triumphs!

An educational Institution proves its excellence not solely by the rich education it imparts, but by the help, it extends to the community during adversity. BNMIT has proved its excellence by relentlessly working with its team to provide food to the doctors, daily wage workers and the entire gamut during the outbreak of the Pandemic.

The concept of excellence in education in the contemporary world directly relates to ethical values and public welfare. A blend of Science and Technology with ethics and moral values forms a powerful force in shaping the world. This positive force plays an important role in minimizing the destructive impact of technology on society.

Despite the awakening and recognition of the importance of ethics and values that should be encompassed by Engineering Institutions, it merely forms a comprehensive document that embellishes the table. The implementation of the values remains under the carpet. It is only the BNM Institute of Technology that triumphs in Engineering Ethics.

Let's justify this statement!

The word Engineering is derived from the Latin Word ‘Ingeniare’ which means to create or innovate. Similarly, ‘Ethics’ is a Greek word that can be defined as value-centric thinking and living. To work with scientific principles and create something genuine for the betterment of society requires a balanced mind with strong ethics and moral values.

Education in BNM Institute of Technology strengthens not only the mental aspect but also the moral and spiritual aspects of every student and educator. An IPL lab and a well-equipped Entrepreneurship Cell at BNMIT nurtures innovative ideas. The cell provides the liberty to every student to conceptualize and leverage their learning in generating prototype products. Regular workshops, technical talks, and industrial tours pave the way for breakthrough innovations. The in-house incubators provide hands-on experience to students. While inducing technical knowledge, moral and spiritual lessons are imparted as a parallel process. Students contribute to environment-related activities like planting saplings and saving trees from the atrocities of mankind. An extra-curricular activity, like Nature Club, enriches their general awareness and sensitizes them to nature care. A regular Yoga and Meditation class build silence and solitude which is a potent means of personal growth. Donating blood to Blood Camps and making children smile by contributing stationaries nurtures philanthropic values in them. The childhood days Moral Science classes are modified and brought to life with fun and learning in T5 classes.

BNMIT undoubtedly stands in the forefront as it bestows greater attention to shaping values along with education. It is true that technology is a tool, but how it is used depends strongly on the values the user is taught along with the core skills. When technology stands in isolation and indifference to qualitative human values it collapses. It is the human factor that gives visibility to the technology. When the BNM Institution itself shows obligation to the public, it can be justified that the student graduating from this noble institution will be a ‘BEACON’.

BNMIT - Takes Learning Beyond The Classroom

Where Learning Is Not Confined To The Four Walls!

Workshops are acknowledged as prime focus at BNM Institute of Technology in order to place education in a higher orbit; to boost the skill and expertise of the faculty and students; and to meet industry expectations. This forms imperative teaching and learning process.

In the past, workshops were one dimensional. Participants witnessed resource persons come and go; learning was limited to the four walls of the classrooms, and certificates added another bullet point in the list of the skill sets of the participant’s profile.

But in BNMIT, as the participants progress from one enrichment program to another, they realize that these ‘Workshops’ at BNMIT are not just in words but in kind. It gives room for teachers to validate their own philosophy of teaching. One such workshop still lingers in my memory.

It was one of those FDP workshops on Communication Enrichment that BNM conducts at the end of every semester. A chosen team of facilitators spindled our minds into creative thinking. While discussing the importance of networking in communication skills, one of the tasks given to the faculty was to come up with effective networking methods. Each of the participants had to mention one particular means of networking that helped them build a rapport.

Interestingly, every participant had established a bond at different levels which did not take long to gush to their memory. While one participant found social media as a strikingly effective platform for networking, another related to conference and webinars. A few other participants narrated how they were revered by student’s parents who agreed to come as a guest speaker and enrich students on myriad areas of Technology.

I recollected the everlasting rapport that I had built with a few of my associates during my travel. With the help of an anecdote, I explained how travelling could be added to the list of networking platforms. It was on a Saturday evening, after completing my afternoon teaching sessions in the college, I was rushing to get into the evening train to Dharwad. I had two goals to achieve. I had a paper presentation scheduled in an International Seminar at Karnatak University, Dharwad (KUD) and at the same time meet my parents who resided in Dharwad.

I got into the first-class coupe a few minutes before the train chugged. I saw an elderly couple and a lady sitting before me. After I settled down, I got busy with my files and papers. Soon we struck a conversation. They were proud to learn that I was into Presentations and Seminars. “Our Karnataka daughters stand out in every field” they fondly remarked. Now, it was dinner time. To my dismay, I realized that I had not carried my dinner. The couple, with great warmth, coaxed me to share their dinner. I was moved. It was a journey that created an everlasting bond. We still stay in touch and the gentleman who is a journalist often shares his knowledge with me.

Networking is a platform that takes learning outside the classroom and teaches universal human values. This highlights that teaching and learning at BNMIT is not limited to the edifice.

BNMIT Thrives!

BNMIT: An Institution Where Best Practices Become a Benchmark!

How does an institution thrive? Undoubtedly, when the best practices become a benchmark, an Institution emanates hyper-efficiency and becomes a role model. Best Practices of an institution is a set of guidelines and ideas that disseminate the most efficient or prudent form of steering the wheel of an organization.

Those practices that are contemporary in nature but deep-rooted in tradition fly the flag of the Institution high. BNMIT not just focuses on developing excellent teaching techniques but also on the importance of Non-Verbal Communication. Educators at BNMIT are groomed to be efficient Teachers, Facilitators and Counsellors. It is often seen that when the individual attainment and organizational goals are mutually linked, the success rate of an Institution soars to great heights. While regular workshops and Seminars hone the teaching competency, teachers are also reminded to “Walk Their Talk.” To remind students to be professionally dressed, it is important that teachers pay attention to their own attire. To correct an undisciplined student, teachers have to demonstrate impeccable discipline in their own mannerism. To have a positive and profound influence on a student, teachers display a responsive human relationship and communication skills. Teachers also give students awareness of the care and concern they need to show towards the environment and energy conservation. Switching off lights before leaving the classroom and avoiding the use of elevators is a significant part of the best practices that prevail at BNMIT.

Imagine when every teacher is groomed to be a source that enlightens students; teaching becomes a ritual and the Institution transforms into a temple of learning.

BNMIT - A Readers Club

A Reader’s Club

When we introduce a book to a reader, we are bestowing a new Life, a Heaven and an Earth that ultimately leads the reader to a sublime experience. Reading books in isolation is a feast for the mind. But, reading and sharing our experience with others forms a unique means of communication that broadens human connection. This human connection further, transcends the boundaries of human limitations. What can be a better way to create human connections than by initiating A Reader’s Club? So let us raise the curtain for this Book Club in order to explore, share and unfold an incredible world.

We are familiar with the adage, “Success Begets Success.” This is evident from a unique program called, The Reading Time at BNM Institute of Technology that began as a sparking idea by Professor Eishwar Maanay, Dean of BNMIT. It did not take long for this small spark to grow into flames of a successful reading program. The ‘Read to Lead’ program, as I fondly named it is now taking a bigger leap into the inception of A Reader’s Club. This club will form an inspirational platform for a confluence of ideas from the participants. Unequivocally, we will together flow into a stream of knowledge and unlock our potential. I foresee a world of facts, fiction, mystery and history that awaits us. Let us delve into books to transform our own selves, our community and our world!

The impact of this program often reminds me of the first day of my journey into book reading. It was the month of February, which commences the busy Semester. After three hours of an afternoon session, I wanted to relax my jaded mind. I stopped by at the shelf of new arrivals in the library. A book titled, ‘The Art of Creative Thinking’ caught my attention. I borrowed the book and went in search of a quiet corner in the Library. But what I saw there was a sight to behold! BNMIT professors were seated decently in the Library with their eyes fixed into the books as they pored over the pages, oblivion of one another’s presence. ‘Nerds’ I addressed them and distracted them as I curiously went around seeing their choice of books. It was enticing to skim over the pages of a book while sipping a cup of tea. I settled down to explore and gather some golden nuggets from the author, Rod Judkins.

The first few pages strongly revealed that Judkins, unlike the other authors did not believe in glorifying creativity. It was devoid of boring lectures and dry quotes. His straight forward definition appealed to me: ‘a piece of art has the capacity to stir others out of their complacency.’ My interest mounted through the pages as the writer gave glimpses of the backdrop of the overwhelming art work. If Damien Hurst’s picture of the Shark with its razor-sharp teeth forces the viewers out of their comfort zone and rethink of death, Steven Spielberg’s JAWS makes the audience puke at the gross scenes and yet remain glued to their seats. Though it was the first day, I felt replenished with knowledge. The hours sailed by leaving an everlasting impact on me. The memory of the US books store, Barnes and Nobles’ an ultimate destination for book lovers, gushed to my mind. BNMIT Library, with an array of contents, will eventually become an ultimate destination for book lovers.

Why Your Search Should End at BNMIT !

Trust Mission over Star Ratings!

About BNMIT – BNMIT

A leading college stands out not because of the published media ratings, but on account of its Mission.
In the month of April and May, one sees the rise in the anxiety level of both, the PUC graduates and the Institutions: Students combat to find a college that matches their caliber, and colleges battle to occupy the top-notch position. But what's overlooked in this process is the Mission of the college on one hand and the potential of the students on the other hand.

So, If you are a student with a lengthy checklist defining your hunt for a reputed college, then pause and rethink. If star ratings are your priority then you are bound to miss quality education. Your preference must surge for a college that would strive to put you on the highest pedestal, rather than a college that would submerge you in an ocean of students and subdue your talents.

Bold and Firm in its Vision and Mission, BNM Institute of Technology ceaselessly works towards achieving its colossal Mission of standardizing its education. It is not just the students who are on the lookout for a top-notch college, but colleges like BNMIT scan outstanding profiles of the aspirants. Your search ends where your challenge begins!

“BNM Institute of Technology, a College by Choice, Not by Chance”

About BNMIT – BNMIT

It was the month of May. The scorching heat had announced the arrival of not only summer but also the Admission-Time at BNMIT. The office arena had turned into a vibrant place with an ocean of people, mostly parents and their wards.

I had to get a document signed, so I walked towards the office building. As I walked past the corridor, I saw parents with gleaming eyes, waiting anxiously to meet the Principal. One could sense the kind of emotion that enveloped their minds. It was a turning point in the lives of parents as well as their children. The thought of four years of investment in a college and its outcome must have been storming their mind.

I was heading towards my department when one of the parents flashed a smile at me and I smiled back. Little did I know that the smile had played an important role in pacifying an anxious mind. She then walked up to me and asked where the canteen was. I readily accompanied her to BNM CafĂ©’ and then parted wishing her and her son good luck.

Days rolled by and the Academic Semester had commenced. It was time for the “Inauguration Function.” I walked into the Auditorium and found it packed with the excited parents and their wards. I found myself standing next to the same parent whom I had met near the Office. She invited me to sit next to her. I enquired whether her son was happy and had familiarized with the new environment. Without any hesitation, she said, “BNMIT is a college by choice and not by chance.” “An aura of learning envelops this edifice,” she continued. “An Institution in which Professors like you, enjoy working and extending help will fill my son’s four years with delight. I am confident that these four years will be marked by growth and learning, as he will be surrounded by intellectuals of this Institution.” With a soulful breath, she said, “I am convinced that my son has set foot into the right college.”

Proud as I felt, I gave her an assuring look, which no words could have given.

We Learn and We Evolve

We Learn and We Evolve

When the world sulked into anxiety, apprehension, and anger during the month of March 2020, due to a lock down on account of corona virus pandemic, the BNMITians chose not to lament: they rose up to the occasion. The Institution pensively focused on innovative ways to salvage the young and jubilant minds from a whirlpool of negativity and idleness. To provide education and help them delve into creativity was the prime focus of the well-wishers.

The swift and decisive action of the management nudged the most required change. The wonderfully spirited professors sprang into action and extended their unflinching support grabbing the opportunity in adversity. The collaboration of minds streamlined the course capsule for online interactive sessions. Within a short time span, the professors and the students zoomed into the digital world. The excitement of the new experience buzzed among the staff and students.  It was particularly exciting to meet on a buzzing platform. The pain and trepidation of the grim situation remained unheeded and gradually faded away.

The BNMITians have proved to our community and to the world that they remain undaunted by setbacks and are infinitely driven to ensure a bright future for aspiring engineers. The moments may be dreadful, but the clarity of vision reigns from altering our attitude. It is our choice to either linger on the moments of sadness or to extend timely help and be remembered when the history of our nation is read out aloud.

The BNM Family has become a better version of them and believes that without any resistance -
We Learn and We Evolve!
